The coveted dress was hand carried, closely guarded, flown 1000 miles and finally worn and partially destroyed with gleeful joy and enthusiastic abandonment.

Creeping And Peeping In The Morning
I had some free time in the morning while in Florida to walk around the hotel where I was staying and to make some pictures.

I'm No Longer A Bastard
My parents got married in Florida this past weekend. Again. The first time they were just teenagers. This time they are a bit older and presumably they know what they are getting into. The weather in Sanibel was a balmy and sunny 80 degrees.

Maybe Partying Will Help
My Daughter recently turned 5 and so we celebrated with a little butterfly party. No actual butterflies were harmed. I can't say the same for her parents.

January Is The Coolest Month
This is always a tough time of the year. The holidays that disguised the coming of the cold are over. Winter has only just begun and we know that we have at least three more months of short, cold, black and white days. I think I might go somewhere warm and green for a bit.

Get A Life
Life Magazine and Google have worked together to compile a really great online collection of photographs. The website is here. There are literally millions of varied images that can be easily searched and found. The files, like those in the online collection of the Library of Congress, are large enough that one could, if so inclined, make a really nice small print. A few morsels are below

Soldier Holding Tattered Flag, 1864, Gees Bend, Alabama, 1937, Arthur Rothstein, Marilyn Monroe, 1953, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Castle At Disney, 1953, Allan Grant, Stock market Crash, 1962, John Dominus, Hippie Family, 1969, John Olsen

These Are Not Rene Magritte Photographs
I love these teeny, tiny photographs by the great Belgian surrealist painter Rene Magritte. Most are of his wife Georgette. They are playful, funny and sweet.

Don't Shoot Where You Live
I always find it difficult to make pictures any where I spend a lot of time. My neighborhood, in particular, is silly with a constant parade of happy snappers which makes me self conscious and a bit embarrassed to be waking around with a camera. But, my son got a camera for the holidays and I dragged him out of the house for a little photo exposition.

Quote of the Day - Harry Callahan
The photographs that excite me are photographs that say something in a new manner; not for the sake of being different, but ones that are different because the individual is different and the individual expresses himself. - Harry Callahan

These Are The Best Pictures of 2008
How do I know that these are "the" best pictures of 2008? I entered that exact query into Google and these are some of the pictures that the application's curatorial supercomputers came up with. Enjoy.
